Description of event: WHAT IS PET?
YEU PET (YEU People for Education and Training), is a platform for educators and practitioners in the youth sector who have worked or who have shown interest in working with YEU international educational activities – training courses, youth exchanges, seminars, conventions and similar events.

The role of PET is to work in the following fields:
Capacity building of YEU: Empower, motivate and coach YEU Members and Member organizations
Advise on educational matters and produce educational materials
Capacity building and the development of competences of the members of PET
Capacity building of member organisations in quality of youth work provision and development
Increase the visibility of YEU International

STRUCTURE
PET is composed of the educators and practitioners in the youth sector, the Coordinator, the YEU Governing Board and the Administrative Office representatives.

MEMBERS
The PET membership is limited to 25 members. The number of de facto members will be determined by the number of qualified candidates. The selection will also aim at having a balance in terms of gender, geography, member organisations, expertise and experience. This balance will guarantee that the diversity of our membership is reflected in PET.

PET has 3 different categories of members:
Facilitators:
Someone who is just starting out and has limited experience in the facilitating of groups at the international level.
Junior Trainers:
Someone who has experience in facilitating and training but not to the extent of being able to run a training course themselves.
Senior Trainers:
Someone who has a lot of experience, can take the full responsibility of running a training course from inception to implementation to evaluation and reporting, and take responsibility for a team.

The interested candidates should be from and supported by a YEU member organisation with a nomination letter. (See below for details and structure of a nomination letter).

PET COORDINATION
The Coordinator of PET is responsible for leading the work of the platform and supporting the process of selecting PET members for YEU events, training courses and other activities. They are supported by one person from the Administrative Office and one person from the Governing Board.

MANDATE
The mandate of PET is two years: This mandate is from November 2020 to November 2022. Junior Trainers and Facilitators are expected to go attend a set of capacity building training courses in order to advance towards becoming Senior Trainers. Senior Trainers are also expected to attend appropriate advanced training courses either provided by YEU or other relevant bodies.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
The selection will be based on the expected profile described below in this document and the general quality of the application. If needed, an online interview will be carried out. The final selection for the membership of PET will be made by the PET Coordinator and the Governing Board of YEU. Every applicant can apply for only one position in PET (Facilitator, Junior, Senior).
Selection criteria: PROFILE OF APPLICANTS
All the applicants interested in PET need to meet the following profile of the Facilitator, Junior or Senior described below.

FACILITATOR

Essential:
YEU
Some knowledge of YEU, having an overview of its policies, strategy and working plan.
Be a member of a YEU Member Organisation.
Age limit of the maximum 26 years at the start of the mandate.

Pedagogical experience
Have some knowledge of and motivation for methods and methodologies used in international activities.
Have a basic understanding of inclusion, volunteering, and intercultural dialogue.
Have a basic understanding of intercultural learning and non-formal education.


Practical experience
Ability to facilitate an educational activity in a youth work setting
Has supported/taken part in the planning and implementation of educational activities.
Taken part in at least 2 international activities either as a participant or as a facilitator/leader.

Desirable:
Taken part in at least one YEU International activity.
Some understanding of working with different methodologies.
Worked in a team on at least one educational activity.
Have experience of taking a leadership role.


JUNIOR TRAINER

Essential:
YEU
Some knowledge of YEU, having an overview of its policies, strategy and working plan.
Be a member of a YEU Member Organisation.
Age limit of 28 when starting the mandate.

Pedagogical experience
Have knowledge of and motivation for, training pedagogies, methods and methodologies.
Have a reasonable understanding of inclusion, volunteering, intercultural dialogue and youth policy.
A reasonable understanding of intercultural learning and non-formal education.

Practical experience
Ability to facilitate a session on a training course, seminar, youth exchange, or other.
Worked in a team on at least three international activities, funded by Council of Europe, Erasmus+ or similar programme.
Taken part in at least two YEU International activities as a facilitator or core team member.
Taken part in the planning and implementation of educational activities at international level.
Have experience of supporting other peer team members.
Have experience of taking a leadership role for parts of an international activity.

Desirable:
Experience in developing new methodologies and usage of innovative approaches.
To have attended a training of trainers.


SENIOR TRAINER

Essential:
YEU
Be a member of a YEU Member Organisation.
A good knowledge of YEU and its policies, strategy and working plan.

Pedagogical experience
A good knowledge of training pedagogies, methods and methodologies.
A good understanding on intercultural learning and non-formal education.
Have expertise in inclusion, volunteering, intercultural dialogue and youth policy.
Experience and motivation in developing new methodologies, and the incorporation and usage of innovative approaches.
Ability to report on and evaluate international activities.

Practical experience
Supported by a YEU International member organisation
Delivered at least 5 international training courses, minimum two in YEU events (name of the project and reference person to be stated)
Delivered at least one training for trainers.
Ability to coach and or mentor trainers and facilitators with less experience.

Number of participants: 25
Additional infos: RESPONSIBILITIES OF PET MEMBERS:

The members need to be able to commit themselves for a period of two years. It is expected for PET members to apply for at least one activity per year and show availability towards YEU during their mandate, both voluntary and paid;
Members of PET will be asked to indicate their availability or unavailability every time a call is launched for YEU events. The trainers are expected to provide their expertise for the activities proposed to them by member organisations or institutional partners;
Where applicable, members of PET will be financially compensated according to the budget of the project they are working on. The rules of their involvement in activities organised by partners or YEU members are defined by the organisers of the activity themselves. Travel, visa, board and lodging costs will be covered by the organisers of the activity;
All YEU PET members must respect YEU Golden rules, YEU Code of Conduct and YEU Quality Assurance Framework;
All YEU PET members are expected to provide voluntary time for YEU in terms of delivering online / offline training courses / exchanges / webinars, supporting YEU educational matters and development, mentoring other YEU members and providing capacity building activities for YEU Member Organisations; report on this matter will be required for annual evaluation of performance.
PET members applying for an activity will receive in due time and upon request an explanation to their selection or non-selection as well as statistics on the number of trainers applying;
Full transparency from the side of the YEU will be ensured on the selection of PET members or external experts for all activities;
PET members engaged for the running of an activity are expected to prepare the session outlines and send them in the YEU format to the relevant organisers at least two weeks before the activity starts along with the fully finalised activity programme;
Reports for activities must be sent to the YEU / organisers, using the standardised YEU report form, no later than one month after the activity. Until the report is delivered, the selection of the trainer for future activities will be put on hold and the payment of fees and expenses will not be completed;
The trainers will be provided with the necessary information, materials and support related to the activities and events by the YEU Governing Board and or Administrative Office member responsible for the activity/event in order for them to deliver the best results when conducting training or facilitation/moderation work.
